Student Wellbeing

At Lalor North Secondary College, we prioritize the wellbeing of our students and their families. We understand that mental health is a crucial aspect of overall wellbeing and work towards providing a supportive environment for everyone involved.

One program that we have implemented is Game Ninjas, which aims to address the mental health challenges faced by students through gaming. We recognize that video games can be a source of escape and provide a positive outlet for stress and anxiety. By incorporating games into our mental health programs, we can engage students creatively and develop strategies for managing their emotions and improving their mental wellbeing.

Another initiative we have engaged is The Man Cave, which focuses on promoting positive masculinity and emotional resilience among male students. The program offers a safe space for boys to discuss mental health, tackle issues such as body image, bullying, and stress, and develop essential life skills. By encouraging open conversations and self-reflection, we aim to break down stereotypes and help our young men build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Similarly, the Big Sister program aims to create supportive bonds between female students. The program pairs older female students with younger ones to provide guidance, support, and mentorship. Through this program, we facilitate positive role modelling and create a sense of community among our female students, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence and promote their overall wellbeing.

By actively addressing mental health issues and providing targeted support through programs such as Game Ninjas, The Man Cave, and Big Sister, we strive to ensure the wellbeing of our students and their families at Lalor North Secondary College.
