High Impact Engagement Strategies

Lalor North Secondary College is committed to co-creating a positive learning environment in which every student feels supported and has voice and agency. We cultivate an environment around the High Impact Engagement Strategies (HIES).

The college has a partnership with Brendan Murray and Andrew Sturgess (…..) who actively support the college to nurture strong and secure relationships and culturally safe learning spaces.

The HIES center the student and their connection with educators as the foundation for establishing secure educational environments. They serve as a means to reflect on the relational aspects of teaching practice that influence interactions with students and the overall classroom atmosphere. They provide a framework for critical and reflective practices, recognising that students and their communities evolve, and educators must adapt to meet their evolving needs. The HIES emphasise  the need for close connections with diverse communities and cultures, embracing the rich tapestry of diversity within them.
